Life sciences research is one of the most valuable parts of the UK economy and key to unlocking its ‘science superpower’ ambitions. But to realise this potential, fresh ideas must be translated into practical interventions.
Unfortunately, this process is often long, expensive and risky, with numerous barriers that can slow or stop the translation of basic research into deployed interventions. To ensure the UK’s excellent research base delivers real-life benefits for patients and the economy, we must have a research and development chain that is strong and resilient from start to finish.
This event will consider: how can we embed a translation-mindset from the very start of research, so the end-user is always at the centre? Is there enough funding for translational research? And how can we bridge the gap between early-stage investment and support for companies becoming more established?
We hope you will be able to join us.
