Onward is launching a new project this week to restore Britain’s “national community” - a new social, cultural and economic basis for the Conservative party after senior figures have concluded now is the moment for “another phase of modernisation”.

The Future of Conservatism project is a year-long commission that will make a bold case for a new conservatism through the examination of the party’s intellectual, economic, cultural and social foundations.

Alongside a series of public events, it will produce three substantial research papers focusing on the intellectual, economic, and cultural and social case for the Tory party to renew and refresh itself. It will set out a policy platform that encompasses the majority of Conservative MPs, activists and thinkers.
